About Löwenzahn Organics
The co-founders of Lowenzahn formula are dedicated mothers committed to giving babies the best start through wholesome ingredients designed to mimic breast milk. All of their formula recipes are based on the following four foundational elements:

Organic certification - All of their formulas hold EU organic certification, indicating that the ingredients originate from responsible organic production in accordance with strict regulations and without any genetic engineering or pesticides.

Optimized omega-fatty acids - Their recipes feature a balanced 1:1 ratio of DHA (omega-3) and ARA (omega-6) in line with expert recommendations to optimally support brain and vision development in infancy.

Plant-based DHA - By using algae oil as their DHA source, Lowenzahn keeps fish oil allergens out of their products, eliminates the risk of a fishy smell or taste, and supports sustainability efforts by avoiding overfishing.

Skimmed Cow’s Milk
This is the original, award-winning recipe from Löwenzahn Organic formula. The PRE milk in this range was recognized by Stiftung Warentest as the best infant formula in 2022, among 21 competitors.
The basic recipe consists of skimmed cow’s milk with balanced protein levels for a gentle, satiating blend, lactose, and complementary carbohydrates in their follow-on milk to satisfy older babies’ growing appetites.
Whole Cow’s Milk
Using whole milk instead of skimmed milk means the cow’s milk in this formula retains its fats and requires significantly less processing, making it a more natural option. Whole milk is a valuable source of palmitic acid, which is typically provided by palm oil in skimmed milk formulas. However, it is not necessary or included in this recipe.
Other beneficial components of their whole milk line include 3’GL human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) and FOS prebiotics for gut health, nucleotides to support DNA synthesis, taurine for fat absorption, and lactose-only carbohydrates for gentle energy.
Whole Goat’s Milk
Goat milk-based formulas are closer in composition to breast milk than cow’s milk formulas and are often better tolerated by sensitive tummies. This unique recipe blends whole goat’s milk for a natural supply of critical fats, lactose, and prebiotics derived from cow’s milk for energy, complementary carbs in the follow-on milk for improved satiation, 3’GL HMOs for gut health, and palm-free vegetable oils.
Lowenzhan Goat includes cow’s milk derivatives and is not suitable for babies with lactose intolerance or cow’s milk protein allergy.
Lowenzahn Formula Stages
Like many European formulas, Lowenzahn products are offered in various stages to better accommodate your baby’s changing dietary needs as they develop. Below, we clarify the important distinctions between the three available stages.
Löwenzahn Infant Formula
Infant formula is a complete source of nutrition for babies from birth, which can complement or replace breastfeeding. All of the brand’s Pre formulas use lactose as the sole source of carbohydrates and have whey-dominant proteins to ensure they are especially gentle and easily digestible for newborn tummies.
Löwenzahn Follow-On Formula
Follow-on formula is designed specifically for the weaning period; it must be incorporated into a diet that includes complementary foods and cannot be your baby’s sole source of nutrition.
The brand offers two types of follow-on formula: All ranges include a Stage 2 formula suitable from 6-12 months, and their skimmed cow’s milk range also includes a Stage 3 formula suitable from 10+ months.
There are a few nutritional differences that set follow-on milk apart from infant formula. Firstly, follow-on milk has more iron, calcium, and iodine. Second, some follow-on formulas include complementary carbohydrates alongside lactose to create a creamier, more filling formula. The Stage 2 and 3 skimmed cow’s milk formulas include starch and maltodextrin, and their Stage 2 goat milk includes starch. The whole cow’s milk range is entirely lactose-based across all stages.

Löwenzahn Toddler Formula
Rather than transitioning their little ones to plain whole milk, some families opt for toddler milk instead from the 12th month onward. This is an optional step that offers additional vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids to complement your toddler’s family diet. Importantly, toddler formula should not replace solid foods and is best served from a cup rather than a bottle. The only toddler formula available from the brand is Löwenzahn Whole Cow's Milk Stage 3.
